It's that time of the year, again...

PVD count is already at 1,722
Meanwhile, during the same time period, job openings for Package Delivery Driver decreased from about 700, to 394 currently.

About 4 PVDs for every Package Delivery Driver they cancelled.

Just curious as to how many of those Package Delivery Driver positions were fill thus reducing the number.

In my building we probably have 25% more permanent package car drivers than we did this time last year.

Just like the media distorts things to fit their narrative, so will I... Without any available proof, let's just jump to the conclusion that the company cancelled them.

Because the other 306 jobs were filled.

PVD count is already at 1,722

They are not going to hire permanent RPCD's for the extra peak volume. A PVD is a seasonal, dues paying, package car driver. They just drive their personal vehicle, and get mileage pay, instead of driving a UPS rented Ryder.

Those jobs were not cancelled. They were filled.

And how else do you expect UPS to deliver the extra peak volume? We are having trouble getting rentals now. There are not enough rentals to go around.

Maybe you'd like to step up and volunteer to work 12 hour days. If everyone worked 12 hour days, we probably wouldn't need PVD's.

Last year's peak at my building we had an army of pvds. I was under 40 hours for all but 2 weeks and I had a helper.

Our manager pretty much got upset that so many preloaders have came and gone in the last 6 months. That’s because they’re not paying them ish. Now they want us to refer workers and are tricking us with this referral bonus BS that you won’t get.

A few of the new guys go by the book and I would imagine they would file but most of them care about run and gun and get home to wifey.

All of the rpcd who take the ro from the OnRoad three days a week are making the case for the company that they need the pvd’s because drivers don’t want to work. It’s our job to show up and demand we get our guarantee and stop making it so easy for the company to prove pvd’s are necessary to complete the work
