The older inline sixes were great. I had one that had a sticky valve. You could set your watch to it. A few seconds after your turned the car off, BAM!!!! The valve drops or opened. Hilarious.

Cold as balls that day going uphill into a strong north wind had it floored but could only get up to about 40 mph

Connecting rod knocked a beer can size whole in the block

Workhorse P1s do. Any smaller ones will have a GM 4L80 or 6L90.

What’s the best motor you guys have had luck with? GM, ford, cummins, mercedes? or the old international v8 diesel?

So why do want to know this? All I can chip in on a personal level is to avoid a Ford 6.0 Powerstroke at all costs.

Leave the manual choke on until you get to your first stop so it really backfires good.

Removing the choke plate was standard procedure for us. First good backfire would bend it and make it stick totally shut and make a breakdown.
