[QUOTE="Netsua 3:16, post: 4431566, member: 73764"] Here’s what’s been on my mind: -Capitalism works. I believe in the American capitalist dream; it enables us to be free and live comfortable, full lives: all we have to do is find a decent job and keep it. -We have failed to maintain a balanced capitalist society; we have allowed all of our money to be hoarded by a small percentage of people; big business, elected officials, etc. Hell, for all we know, zillions of our tax dollars are hiding in sketchy off shore accounts. We have allowed our leaders to pull the rug over our head. -Capitalism works....but just as anything else in life, it requires balance. -The stimulus, in my eyes, is a shift towards more balanced capitalism. In the same vein as “the new deal,” which stabilized the economy and helped more Americans prosper than ever; the booming 50’s were a great example of a proper capitalist society. What I’m trying to figure out....is why would any average American worker, conservative, liberal, whatever.... Why would ANY average American want to WILLINGLY limit benefits to fellow average Americans, when we have allowed our elected officials to suck us dry for the last 40 or so years? Conservatives specifically; you desire less government, right? So why do you want to continue empowering the government to hoard our money however they see fit; instead of making them fix what they friend’ed up in the first place??? Wages have failed to increase with inflation; and thus, the stimulus is necessary for many Americans working 40+ hours a week who still struggle to keep the lights on...because rent is exorbitant all across the country.
