If a employee is bad enough, then they are let go.
If they aren't let go, then they really must not be as bad as you say... otherwise why would the company keep them.

It's funny because everyone talks about that "deadbeat" employee or the worthless employee who still gets a raise. Of course it's always someone else they're referring to. All the people on here that complain like that are "stellar" employees FedEx. They are the hardest working person at their station. At least that's why they think about themselves. Truth be told, they themselves, might be the "deadbeat" employee that others complain about.

Most definitely, I'm the most bestest, fastest, error free employee ever, my picture is on the wall permanently above the employee of the month plaque.

Retention is a metric that takes a hit when people resign or get fired; some smaller stations can't afford to take the hit as it puts them in the red for months and may be impossible to recover from in the fiscal year. The trick is to take the slacker and put them somewhere that their non-productivity will do the least amount of damage. Employee morale will still suffer... but hey, throw a pizza party or something.
