Recorders in UPS Dubai Crash Sent to U.S., Aviation Body Says - Bloomberg

The cockpit-voice and digital flight-data recorders were shipped to the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board on Sept. 10 and are “still under thorough technical analysis,” the GCAA said in an e-mailed statement today.

Initial analysis of the data indicates that there was a fire warning followed by smoke in the cockpit, as reported by the crew about 28 minutes after takeoff, the GCAA said.

Captain Doug Lampe of Louisville, Kentucky, and First Officer Matthew Bell of Sanford, Florida, died in the crash on the outskirts of Dubai, Atlanta-based UPS said in a statement on Sept. 4.
