The word judge is a popular one in the denominational world. "Hey, you are judging me." Especially if the person getting the accusation is simply reading or quoting God's word. "Judge not that ye be not judged." -Matt 7:1 From this, we do not have the ability to make unbiased judgment. But, we make judgements all the time. In Matt.7:3 Jesus wants us to make a judgement about a splinter and a log. "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment!"- John 7:24 Did Jesus contradict himself? Did he make a mistake in Matthew and then try to correct himself? Uh, no. In John's gospel, Jesus said that His Father's word was the only truth. (John 17:17) That being true, his word is the ONLY way to make righteous judgment. According to the ONLY divine standard of truth -- the Bible! God's word is what performs righteous judgment. An example of that would be homosexuality. It's condemned in the Bible. If one says that homosexuality is a sin, the one stating that is not making that judgement. It has already been decided by God. When using the scripture for salvation, worship, etc. ask, is my beliefs and what I teach according to God's word? Do I have book, chapter and verse for such? Whether you do or not, it is that word that will judge you. "Why, you are judging me"? You're not. God has already made that judgment and it will judge us in the last day as well. (John 12:48) When we then stand before God, God will take His word that He gave us, and we will receive a place of comfort or torment. (2 Tim. 4:8) There is a way to give righteous judgment or you can render unrighteous judgment. God and His precepts are righteous (Psalms 119:137). ...We have no judgment, unless by and through His word.
