No thread on this abomination of a bill. No vote tonight. I guess the master negotiator in chief couldn't swindle enough votes from his own party to pass this tax cut. Does anyone think this bill is a good idea?

if the republicans cut coverage, they eat :censored2: in the midterm elections and get set up for a 1-term presidency, if he doesn't get impeached for treason or some other corruption first

if they keep coverage as is, but just try to screw people out of more money, it will get replaced with something more like a single-payer system in 8-12 years

win win

This was more Ryancare than anything else. Only the RINOs weren't able to push it through. It is a piece of garbage as written. They need to repeal Obamacare and start again from scratch instead of trying to fix that mess.

They got both houses of congress and the presidency, so they got no one to blame but themselves if they can't get something done.

Exactly.
Obamacare is such a worthless piece of legislation.
Not sure Ryancare is any better.

It will not be a win unless the US Central Government is able to generate more tax revenues.
A National Healthcare system cannot be supported unless the US goes to a VAT tax and probably some others.

you'd only need $1,000 per capita additional to fund a good preventative healthcare system, if you tack on what medicare already pays for

cut the military budget in half and you're good

These stupids :censored2:s are spending a lot more on military.
The USA has at least 4 times the resources needed to defend our borders.

yep. cut social programs and bolster the military. but jobs will come back once the war starts up!

What's pissing me off more is the fact of "Oh, yeah, we won't win, so let's just delay this until we win".

Nah, m-fer, when its vote time, it's vote time. Hillary didn't go "OH WAIT IM NOT GOING TO WIN SO LETS DO IT TWO WEEKS FROM NOW".

(okay, i know that the consensus(polls/tv, etc) was confident in her win... blah blah blah, just look at it for what it is and not what it was"

The US is third on the list of countries for most public money spent per capita on healthcare. We are far and away number 1 for individual spending. Our system sucks.
I would personally benefit from republicare, but it's terrible policy. Give us a public option, let everyone buy in to Medicare and let the private insurers compete if they can.

I went to our local clinic for my annual bout of bronchitis earlier this year. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. The bill was nearly $2K.

Be careful what you ask for.
Medicare sucks and Medicade totally sucks.
I am 62 with a lot of friends who went from private insurance to Medicare and they all hate it.

That's why I argue for the option. If private insurance can provide a better product they'll get customers. I've been in the private market my whole life and private insurance sucks too.

Which is exactly what the health care debate is all about. Of course with our insurance your out of pocket expenses were minimal. Can you imagine what a bill like that would do to an uninsured or under insured family budget.

I've had no problem with Medicare and a mid-range supplemental insurance plan. Granted I haven't had anything major happen but it has been used (annual check ups-a few X-rays- see a orthopedic specialist-urgent care). So far I haven't spent a dime out of my pocket for something not being covered by that combination. My wife is anxious to get on it in 3 months because right now its costing us almost $900 bucks a month just for her totally worthless/ high co-pay insurance plan.

So true. I heard most of western society health care is 10% of GDP were as in the us it is 17%. A total rework is in order. In any case its not going to be pretty.
