We fail because people vote for failure and demand it. We voted to surrender three times in a row. Biden, Trump and Obama. By ending the war they meant surrendering and throwing away the last 20 years of nation building. It was a very winnable situation, single digit to not even 20 us servicemen KIA a year. Hardly a war at that point. Not saying casualties don’t suck, but that was a mostly won war we voted to surrender three times in a row. Trump, Biden and Obama. Yet you blame the “MIC” boogeyman that is so popular to bash in the zeitgeist. South Korea has it much better now than before, Afghanistan had it better than they ever did, you’re lying to yourself to bash America. Anti-War was extremely popular sentiment after WW1 and look where that got them. Preventative military action is a great thing, holding Afghanistan was a good thing, enforcing redlines is a good thing. America had a lot of success intervening in South America during the Cold War. US backed governments won out for the most part, keeping Soviets out of our backyard. That’s the level Afghanistan was at, it was no longer hundreds of dead like under Obama, it was intervention level casualties. Acceptable for the mission of maintaining a US backed government. It wasn’t an “endless war”.
