Sales pushing Ground?

I talked to a sales rep today. She told me they are still turning away shippers because grounds infrastructure can't keep up with the growth of volume. She was very frustrated.
So why do some of you think they are trying to move express volume over to ground?

That doesn't make sense. Why turn away new shippers just to take cash out of express for a higher profit at ground? Ground can't move the extra volume.

It has to do with moving as much volume as possible to the IC model. They are looking way into the future.

Up here, anyone who actually still hands in sales leads just have those leads turned into Ground sales. Talked to one of my female coworkers who bleeds that purple blood and couldn't get her to see she's slitting her own throat.

Well, they are more of a "shipping" company. We just sell the idea of moving a customers freight then hope there is the infrastructure to get it from point A to B.

That's the little slip of paper that Sales wants us turn in so they don't have to work as hard. And Corporate wants us to turn in so we can send more business Ground's way.

After my manager bugged me for months about no leads, the SM asked me a few weeks ago why I don't turn in any, I told him the same thing.

No can do on the sales leads! Most of the time it winds up being a ground lead, plus we cant get the freight we have now on time.
