Shaving as a driver

Its 2012, can't this rule finally be changed.

I look more established with a goatee, I look like a little kid with a bare face...

I start driving school today and its the first time I've shaved my goatee in atleast 5 or 6 years. I look weird and don't recognize myself in the mirror without it.

How can we get this changed? Its about time.

Suck it up. Why change it? You see fed x guys and freight guys out there? Some of them look terrible. I think they should bring it back the tie. It's professional

Deplorable.
I just shaved off my vacation mutton chops about 15 minutes ago. I'll never understand UPS. It's a testament to how stuck in their ways they are. The customer, at best, only minimally gives a shyte what the driver looks like that's delivering their package. They want their stuff on time, and in good condition. Whether or not the driver has sideburns past the ear or a neatly trimmed goatee is probably the least of their concerns.

You can change it right now. Just change your religion to one that forbids cutting of facial hair and your all set

I think you look more established now that you got a job making 80 $90,000 year but maybe that's just me.

Go to a Dermatologost and get a note stating that shaving irritates your pores, and you'll be allowed to keep a short well groomed beard/goatee. Several of the younger drivers in my building have done this and while i think it looks very unprofessional they are allowed to wear the beards.
On a side note:with so many young people getting tat sleeves and other visible tats I cant help but think the company in future years will be forced to relax its stance on visible tats

why don't we negotiate this in the new contract. I'm sure U.P.S would gladly give up our raises for for facial hair. You know who allows facial hair? FEDEX!!!

I think if you're a woman driver wearing shorts, you should HAVE to shave your legs. I know it's a gay thing (not that there's anything wrong with that), but come on! A woman should not have hairier legs than me.

Is the goatee worth $85,000 a year ?

What makes hair above the lip more appropriate than below the lip? An old way of thinking.
You can sport the pedo or pornstar look with a creepy stache and a ponytail, but you can't have a goatee with loose long-ish hair.

A tie? Really? I suppose most of you drivers would like that. It's a ready-to-go noose for when you just wanna end it all.

i agree. customers really like how we look. if they let us have goatees, muttonchops and everything else , you know drivers will abuse it and look terrible. they will have to hire a new manager as "face inspector"

and I like how i am treated everywhere I go with so much respect. won't happen if you look like my photo.

Sorry, I don't look at people with a shaved face and think respectable, then look at an individual with facial hair and think detestable. It is hair that grows on a man. If it is kept groomed you look respectable, if you let your facial hair, head hair or anything else go you look a mess. I see tons of sloppy drivers with horrible fitting clothes. Tailor his outfit and beard or no beard he will look respectable. Well groomed is not necessarily what some of you imagine it to be.

I don't know why its hard for people to understand why we can't have beards. Who determines what is neat and respectable. By limiting beards it prevents people from having ZZ Top type beards, or beards that look like a mountain man who would shave with a sharp rock. Its just easier to enforce clean shaven.

JC, we have people in this society that tattoo their face.

If my sister were driving, I would hope she would wax or at least bleach her stache. Shes got a better one than me, & fewer grays too
