Started early November, initial pay was 10 p/h. I was told by management it would go up to 12 first week of January. It only went up to 10.35. I work in the unload
That sounds about right.

Should have never been at $10, since we have the higher minimum wage, due to us being a federal contractor.

Wrong rate. I'm going to talk to him again today with some printed paystubs. If it doesn't work, how do I fill a grievance. I'm fairly new and union stuff isn't talked about much
Talk to your union steward about a grievance form Article 17 of the Master

"Other
shortages involving more than forty ($40.00) dollars for full-time
employees, and twenty ($20.00) dollars for part-time employees, will
be corrected and the payment will be made available to the employ-
ee at his/her reporting location on his/her second scheduled workday
after reporting the shortage. If the Employer fails to make the pay-
ment available on the employee’s second scheduled workday and the
shortage was the result of the Employer’s error, the employee will be
paid an additional amount equal to one-half (1/2) of his/her daily
guarantee at his/her regular hourly rate for every full pay period in
which the shortage is not paid after the second (2nd) scheduled work
day, until corrected."

Don't be hard on the dude. When you start you aren't given much information. While I was working trailers a new person asked a sup and the guy gave him the B A 's name. It would really help if the union would contact the new members once they are in the union with a call informing them of the next meeting or a piece of mail giving them the contact information. If you have ever looked at the boards - they only show the next meeting - not what is going to be discussed, etc. -- also you really have to know where to look for the union boards in each hub - they aren't the easiest things to spot!
A steward is a bargaining member's representative. Find out your local and try and pick up a copy of the current contract book and also your supplemental. If a person has never been in a union job they are not going to know this stuff. Some of you were the "newbe" once. Don't we have enough bullies in the world.

I just discovered I've been underpaid 140 bucks in the past month. What's the best way to resolve this issue

We withhold the money we feel could be better spent on Crack and Strippers. If you need the 140$ file the grievance and then go to the Kitty Kat Klub and find Chastity. She has your money. Thanks for the good night!
