Apparently Amazon is building two new warehouses in the area and as a result they are adding a midday sort that will be working from 11-4 (approximately). Going to be staffed with around 200 hourly employees. From what I have heard they are going to allow 50 employees from both the twilight and midnight shifts bid to it, 30 from the preload and they are going to hire 70 off the street. The new hires are actually going to be hired before the shift goes into effect so they can be trained and it looks like they're all going to be crammed onto twilight (fine by me, I'll get to go home early for a week or so). I'm in the top 30 or so for seniority in my shift so I can definitely bid to it if I want but I was wondering how management came up with those numbers. Seems odd that they can just cap the number of people bidding to the new shift at a random number.
