Social security??

Checking my social security statement recently and it says that at age 62 I'll be eligible for a $2300 monthly payment. I'm currently 56 with 30 years driving so I'm eligible for retirement and pension. Question that I have is if I retire at age 57 does that social security amount assume that I will continue working till at least 62 or can I go next year and rely on the $2300 benefit? Thanks.

It assumes you keep working but you won't lose that much if you have 35 good years of earnings.

Had an great uncle he and his old woman never did take social security, staunch republicans that didn't want to give Franklin Roosevelt the satisfaction. i plan to hold off as long as possible myself for it and my UPS pension, kind of find it degrading in a way.
