Smalls or trailer?
For Smalls I've found that having someone sort for a while then bag made a difference. They could see their mistakes and adjust.
The belt I've found you just have to do it. When you screw up enough coworkers will let you know what goes where. I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but sometimes a little trial by fire is a good thing.

When I started sorting the preload box line that is how I learned. Go through the phone book picking out random address and guessing which cage it goes to. Mostly it is just repetition. Inside a week you will 75% accurate and after a month 90%.

I remember sometimes at 3 am some of the real heavy boxes accidentally went to the bottom belt instead of the top belt............
Doesn't EDD fix that?

Not me........ Some of the older guys came in half awake and just didn't give a friend....... I was wide awake back then. I was just a kid.

That is fine being a Hub sorter. Being a boxline sorter you sort by address not zip codes. I can not image any of the new sorters who have only sorted by PAL labels try the old way. Of course we were paid $.50/hour less then drivers after a 30 day progression with full benefits.
