St. George UT Next Day Air Failures

I live in St. George UT. Ameriflight brings the majority of the air packages to our airport M-friend from the hub in Salt Lake. Lately the flight times have been an hour or so later than in the past.

The last time I got a next day air package on the day it was due for delivery was back in November. The office workers at the local center say they don't have the staff to sort the packages Ameriflight brings down and so they just delay them until the next business day. Local management says I'm "unreasonable" to expect to receive my package on the day it is due for delivery. Additionally they will not let me pick the packages up as they are in a trailer waiting to go through sort.

The customer center in St. George serves Washington and Kane county Utah, an area with about 200,000 people.

I would think corporate would be getting on them for all the service failures for these next day packages in this reason, as they are never labeled "adverse weather" or for any other legitimate failure. They just show a destination scan on the day they are due for delivery, and then never go out for delivery until the next day.

Is this a regular problem in areas like mine? Does anyone have contact info for someone in charge of operations for the Utah region?

This happens on outbound packages too. They always just send them up on the truck with the ground, so they never get to the origin hub in time. I have repeatedly called and been refunded, to the 800-742-5877 and the corporate customer relations. But nothing seems to change.

At this point I'd rather have on time delivery then my money back.

It's our day off after the worst peak ever, this isn't a official UPS website so it's really limited in it's ability to help any more than a Google search could, and you're expecting "Let me put down my beer and get on your problem"?

Inbound UPS will say just deal with it. Outbound use the USPS. If you know your getting screwed by UPS and UPS won't refund your money. Might as well get screwed by USPS at cheaper price.

Looks like the guaranteed delivery commitment time to St. George is noon for NDA and end of business day for NDA Saver. If your NDA shipments are not getting delivered by those commitments, I recommend going to the UPS pages on Facebook and/or Twitter as the social media group that monitors those sites are pretty responsive.

On the outbound side, the latest pickup time for NDA shipments to make their commitments is 4:30 PM (according to ups.com).

Some interesting stats on St. George, UT (courtesy of Wikipedia)

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, it had the distinction in the late 2000s of having the fastest white population growth in the nation.

St. George received the brunt of the fallout of above-ground nuclear testing in the Yucca Flats/Nevada Test Site northwest of Las Vegas. Winds routinely carried the fallout of these tests directly through St. George and southern Utah. Marked increases in cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, bone cancer, brain tumors, and gastrointestinal tract cancers were reported from the mid-1950s through 1980.
