BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- Michael Chren, senior director of large-cap value investing at Allegiant Asset Management, says that investors should be looking for "dynamic" situations, and noted that the current negativity spreading on Wall Street is creating many opportunities.

In a radio interview with Chuck Jaffe, MarketWatch senior columnist, Chren said that "when the Fed starts to ease [interest rates], the market will lift off and high-quality names will start to perform," which is why he urged being "on the other side of the fence" in situations where a herd mentality has beaten down top investment names.
Chren noted that the tide on energy stocks has been rising for years, and when "everybody is in love with energy stocks, typically that's time for a pullback." As such, Chren put a hold rating on Suncor Energy (SU: suncor energy inc com
