If you view this as an egregious violation of the contract, their breach might justify a legal strike.

Nobody wants that but this is a dangerous path to head down.

We had one retire at the end of May and another at the end of June

And 2017, 70 hour change nationwide. 2025 could set itself up for several circumstantial similarities but there were no PVDs then and they have improved forecasting since then. Overall, I’m not seeing it, but at certain buildings absolutely.

I seriously doubt we will be missing over 2 million packages like 2013. Again if it reaches that level of failure it completely vindicates the union but that’s the last thing the company wants is vindicating the union so very unlikely.

So, I got an email back that said my last day will be Oct 31st.
I kinda wanted that day off to take the kids trick or treatin.
Can I negotiate the date, or maybe use an optional??

Mine couldn’t have gone smoother
Sent my papers in 90 days before my retirement date. Retired at the end of the month got a check the next day.

Yep.

I‘m sure there will be plenty of disclaimers before you accept the offer, most likely including the employee working up to, and until, the separation date, in order to receive the buyout.

Based on local needs is suspect language. I’m understanding that to be the ultimate arbitrator on approval rather then seniority. Something to keep an eye out on.
