teamsters ups class action lawsuit

There is sort of some language on this.
It states that they will use senior employees and inside bargaining units at a 6 to 1 ratio for all work that needs to be fulfilled.
So if they're offering bonuses outside of peak season in order to keep people coming to work it should only be to one person for every 6 they offer that extra work to from inside. Offering that bonus to pre senior employees to keep them coming to work would not be at a 6 to 1 ratio.

I think UPS giveth, and UPS taketh away when it wants to. $300.00-$400.00 a week just show up to work on time? C'mon, man. Put on your big boy pants and just come to work when you're supposed to. This was probably a temporary stopgap move in certain areas of the country. I doubt they would ever put it in the contract and be held to this for the length of the contract.
They have been doing those bonuses in our building for the length of peak season the past couple years. They did something new last peak, we couldn’t get anyone to sign up. Starting pay was 14$ then it went to 15$, 18$ then to 20$. But the helpers that started out at the beginning of peak didn’t get those raises, when they found out they were pissed and some quit.

Bonuses are somewhat of a necessity for seasonals. Have you seen the talent pool UPS has to work with? During the holidays they are drawing from the bottom. When there are seasonal jobs offering the same pay for easier work you need some incentives.

Who the hell would want to be out in the elements delivering heavy crap for $15/hr (driver helpers) when they could stock shelves in a climate controlled building for the same wage.
