Teamsters will not proceed with FedEx vote in Mass. - Reuters

"This is a complete victory for FedEx Home Delivery contractors Worcester and a total defeat for the Teamsters," said FedEx Ground vice president for contractor relations.

The Teamsters and FedEx have been fighting a long running, acrimonious battle over union representation for FedEx Ground drivers, which FedEx pays as independent employees, but which the Teamsters say should be classed as employees.

I notice that the Teamsters are claiming that they were pulling-out because it wouldn't be "a free or fair election". That smacks of FedEx intimidation tactics to me. Anyone out there from the Teamsters or Ground who can clarify why the vote was not held?
