Absolutely nailed it. To begin with VT is worried about higher insurance premiums. But, if you don't have insurance to begin with....then what is the issue? Unfortunately, there would appear to be some who think that the employer funded health insurance they currently enjoy is something they will continue to enjoy in the years after they are done working, However, as we see with FDX they are continuing to dismember retiree healthcare plans making them ever more dependent on Medicare and perhaps later on Medicaid. In the meantime Medicare continues to be the lowest cost provider. In addition, private insurers under the ACA are required by law to spend a minimum of 85% of their charged premiums of actual claims. Can no longer get excessively rich off the business. Nor many years ago former House Speaker Paul Ryan unveiled his so called "Plan To Save America'. Under his plan if you want to call it that Medicare would be scrapped. In it's place Medicare enrollees would be given stipend of $7700 to go buy private carrier health insurance..... Only one problem...There wasn't an insurance underwriter in the entire world willing to write a health insurance contract for a 65 year old for $650 a month. Anybody see or hear anything out of Paul Ryan lately?.....Or how about so called "Repeal And Replace"?....There never was one.
