First, let me say that this post was well thought out, well stated and right on the money. I appreciate the honesty. You are exactly the kind of voter that RH and I spoke of directly. There are several members who share your position and will not vote for RH because of an issue close to them. RH understands this, but thats where the "listening" comes in. RH knows not everyone is happy with the contract as it played out, RH knows that there are particular issues at certain levels that lacked oversight and RH understands that he needs to address those issues moving forward. As far as the ballot claim you made, agents and officers will never ask you "WHO" you voted for. They will ask if you recieved your ballot. This is important just in case you DIDNT recieve your ballot. The window is small and getting a replacement ballot can take time. There is nothing wrong with asking these kinds of questions. Its completely inappropriate to ask how a member voted, especially to someone they "dont" know. I take issue with that assertion. As for the contract, yes, you are correct, there were plenty of concessions that have upset everyone from part time to feeder. Could RH have done something different? Of course. Did he? Obviously not. But at this point, the contract is in ink and its dry. We have to live with it until 2018, so the question then becomes, of the two slates, who is in the "best" position to defend you and the members should a problem arise? Why continue to complain about the contents when we cant address them again until 2018?? You have a choice to make in this election, VOTE your conscience and vote against RH because of the issues you have with him and vote in a guy who was unsuccessful as a business agent and so far, unsuccessful as a union candidate for anything he has ever attempted to run for only to punish yourself if you EVER got in trouble enough to need union representation. Remember, as an executive officer during RG's tenure, I PERSONALLY know his record as a business agent and it wasnt good. From getting good people fired with "BAD" advice to being completely ineffective on the shop floor in handling grievances, RG has NO chance of standing up to the company in tough fights. This would be the ultimate effect of electing RG to secretary treasurer. So, the choice is yours. You have legitimate concerns, and they need to be addressed. As I said before, RH and I had a confrontation during the negotiations for our national contract, and we may not be on the same page with the results, but today, now that the smoke has cleared and business needs to be conducted, RH is willing to adjust to conditions on the ground and make an effort to address those issues like the ones you mentioned. This is a two horse race, and we have to make the right decision based on our own conscience and experience. I dont have to sell RH to you or anyone else, I also dont have to "try so hard" to mock RG, I know that as a dues paying member, I want the best possible chance to succeed should I ever need the local to represent me in the next three years. I have echoed some of your comments about RH and his tenure, losing interest for the membership, and RH and I addressed this issue. After this election, and when RH wins, I will have to evaluate for myself over the next three years if RH truly listened and made the changes that we spoke of. IF not, going into 2017, I will run against him and he knows this. We are both professionals, we both understand this business of being a unionist. Its has its ups and downs, but regardless, at this point in time, I SUPPORT Rn Hrra and his administration. AS for Rch Gvn, well, I hope he moves out of the way and just returns to his job as a feeder driver staying out of local politics. Like MITT ROMNEY, he has had his bites at the apple, and allthough in "some" groups he is popular, even MITT ROMNEY knows he would lose in another election. I appreciate your comments. TOS.
