Its kind of a somber thought to think that from now on WWI will be like the rest of our countries past wars with only history books marking its significance and nobody is left to give their first hand accounts of what happened during this monumental change in both world and U.S. history.

RIP Frank Buckles, you were the last of a great generation!

I couldn't find any stats on what percentage of WWII vets were still alive but the VA says they are dying at a rate of 900 a day.

2/3rd's of all Vienam vets are already dead. 2.5 million served in Vietnam and 850,000 are still alive. Sadly 15 million claim to have served.
