Message: <blockquote data-quote="vantexan" data-source="post: 5188566" data-attributes="member: 24302"><p>I'm not trying to explain Putin's motives.  Mistreatment of Russians is a pretext for going in.  That was the reason for attacking Georgia.  Ukraine has a huge agricultural sector and would be a prize for any dictator.  I'm trying to give you some background on the world over there.  It's not as cut and dried as you think.  In the U.S. people of German, Irish, English, Italian, African, and countless others intermix.  Not common in that part of the world.  And people have long memories.  There was a lot of cruelty given by ethnic Serbs on Muslim Bosnians.  What people don't know is that was revenge for centuries of Muslim abuse on Serbs.  Putin himself is angry over the Russians losing dominance over other groups when the Soviet Union collapsed.  There's a lot more to it than one crazy dictator.</p></blockquote><p></p>
