I didn't see where they mention how many samples they tested, or if and how they controlled for false positives/negatives. To say it's impossible that covid-19 hit the US before January is not logically consistent with the information presented in the article. Other factors to consider, that everyone is ignoring, when comparing California to New York are population density and weather. People tend to spend more time outside when the weather is nice, which helps slow the spread of respiratory illness. This fact is well understood, but is being completely overlooked in the discussion of the pandemic.</blockquote>
