To Express New Hires: What’d They Tell You?

Just curious to know what they’re telling newly hired staff re: pay progression-topping out, advancement opportunities, etc. A new hire at my station is getting about $21/hour; up from the $19 and change I started with.

Do you know what market level your pay rate is? B3 starts at 20.71 and B4 starts at 21.62.

I’m assuming you’re not at a station getting a peak premium bump.

I’m not complaining, but I don’t understand why after almost eight years I’m making just over $25/hour. Started at about $19. I am in a major and expensive metro area. But still.

I didn’t mean that I’m dissatisfied. I’m happy enough. Just surprised I’m making more than some folks with more years on the job.
