Fnix, It doesn't work like that. Yes, a driver starting today will probbaly make 50 an hour 25 years from now, but so will every driver at top rate. It won't matter if they are with the company 5 years or 25 years, once you make top rate you make the same per hour as everyone else. We did get an hour raise this year, but that was only because the contract called for it in Aug. of 07. The prior years raises you .95, .85, .80 in the years 06, 05, and 05 respectively. The 07 raise made top rate 28.14 per hour. From your start date there is a 2.5 year progression to top rate. So if you had started in May of 05 you would be paid at 70% of the top rate in 2002 which was 22.75 (i think), so your wage would be about 15 bucks an hour. At 1 year you would get about 80% of top rate in 02. At 18 months your would get about 85% and 90% at 2 years. Here is where you truly make out. At 2 years you are making 90% of top rate in 02 which is around 18 or 19 bucks an hour. Once you hit that 2.5 years of seniority you jump to top rate at 28.14. So in other words, you get a 10 an hour raise!!!! You've been living on 19 bucks or less for 2 and a half years and now your base pay is going to increase by 400 dollars per week! I think this is truly amazing. Think about it, that's 1600 a month excluding overtime! to me that sounds like a nice mortgage payment of some serious money you can put toward retirement.
