Message: <blockquote data-quote="vantexan" data-source="post: 4803337" data-attributes="member: 24302"><p>Studies have been done showing that the new wives often push their husbands to focus on their children and not on children from a previous marriage.  Experienced that with my stepmother when I was 12.  She wasn't pleased that my dad kept pushing to get custody of us and ultimately did when I was 14.  Used to take out her bad day on my sister.  To the point after waking to whimpering sounds when I was 19 I walked in on her grabbing my sister by the hair and hitting her with a wire hanger.  She jumped up and left the room and I spoke to my dad about it that night.  Told him I'd call the county if I ever saw her doing that again.  Point is there's a reason that wicked step mothers are part of our cultural lore.  It's not always the dad abandoning his previous children.</p></blockquote><p></p>
