Trump pardons Alice Johnson - Fake News credits Kim Kardashian

Trump wants to execute drug dealers. But he granted commutation to one because Kim Kardashian asked.

Trump’s move is all the stranger because it goes against the broader policy that Trump has been pushing for drug dealers and traffickers. In response to the
opioid epidemic, Trump has said that the government should execute drug dealers and traffickers. More broadly, his administration, under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, has adopted a “tough on crime” view toward drugs.

But it adds to the unusual string of pardons and commutations that Trump has carried out since he took office last year ...

Don't exactly have to twist Trump's arm for a commutation or pardon these days. If there's a cheap display of power to be performed, he'll do it.

The fact is that Obama should have pardoned her and it's a shame he didn't. First offense, non violent offender getting a life sentence is too harsh. And any reasonable proud black person should recognize this. Freeing Chelsea Manning and letting Bowe Bergdal off the hook is stuff that is egregious.

The fact is the request never reached President Obama's desk because all requests for pardons/commutations went through the DOJ, who denied the request. That is how it has always been done before King Donny John.

The President takes recommendations from the DOJ. He doesn't need their approval. Was Clinton pardoning a billionaire on the run on his last day in office a recommendation of the DOJ? What put it over the top, the millions donated to the Clinton Foundation?

Clinton did it? That's your justification?

No, just want Trump to be viewed fairly, which seems impossible for folks like you. Seems to me if people can reach back 50 years to attack Trump on not serving, I should be able to point out what other presidents did. After all it was said this was the way it was always done before.

Okay, just like you treated President Obama. Got it!

There was a lot of things going on during the Obama administration that were concerning. But with a compliant press nothing was ever done about it. What can be proven is the national debt doubled under his watch, Hillary was running side deals as his Secretary of State, he furthered the racial divide, and did little to improve the economy. That's what actually happened, not some made up garbage designed to take down a president. And has very little to do with what we were discussing. You said that there was a way these pardons were done and had always been that way. Not so.
