What hub jobs require a typing test?

I was told last night that I would be taking a typing test for my new positon.

i was thinking some sort of on-road position where you message the drivers and deal with customers directly/indirectly. We would always have 2 women come in to do call tags and stuff like that. I would say a clerk, but our didn't do alot of typing more of re-wrapping and address corrections.

How about an OMS job? They are hiring off the street now. And we all know they love to send out a million messages a day to drivers.

weird how UPS is still hiring positions like this when I heard from some people at my old hub that they are letting people go left and right.

What I meant by "hiring off the streets now" is that before some UPS experience for the OMS job was required before they let you loose on the drivers during their work day. When we "broke in" our newly hired off-the-street OMS, we got an insane amount of inane messages all with "response required." That was soooo... irritating. Only lasted about a week or two before she learned and now she is one of the best.

I learned tonight that I would be doing ODS for international shipments. It sounds interesting.

The typing test was real short and simple.
So does anyone have anything to say about ODS?

That is not a union job, at least aroudn here. I assume you're non-union then, but correct me if I'm wrong. ODS is simply on-demand services. It's a way for a center to communicate with the driver via his/her DIAD and the centers computers.

another thing, i'm not sure exactly the extent of ODS except the basics of what it means and some of the facets....the OMS (operations management specialists) utilize ODS for instance
