I just finished my 30 day qualify for my 22.4 driver position. I set up my account and I'm going to start saving. But I cant find anywhere, how much UPS will match in my 401k, if any at all.

There is no match, but there is a pension.

UPS doesn't do much of anything for their employees. They most certainly are not going to give you some of that money back you made for them from your blood, sweat, and tears.

And then right before you start to pull it for your retirement, watch it dissappear when the market tanks.

That's why you have a balanced portfolio. That way if you need some cash in a down market you don't have to worry about it.

    Great advice!
Look at the employees who had all their $ in just Enron Stock.

    Pensions are garbage

That's a fairly uninformed comment, yada. Pensions generally offer a much lower expense ratio and a greater diversification of assets.

Yea, until they run dry before or during your retirement. Not something to rely on

Says the people without one. Do you have any idea how much money you would have to have in a 401k for a $3000/mo. payout for the rest of your life?

My bank account disagrees with you every 1st of the month!

    $4300/mo. here.

    30 years * $3000/month * 12 months = $1,080,000

I guess it all depends on how long you live.

Ummm, I retired at 49. If I make it to 79 that's $1,548,000. So to replace my pension, I'd have to have that $1.5mil on top of what's already in my 401k. Probably more than you think...
