You can pick whatever investments you want
you can also pay a management fee if you want an advisor to do it for you through the plan
You mean if i don't take any action , my money is basically just sitting there , i thought that the management fees is taken automatically.

All funds have a fee maybe you got that mixed up. You can have it professionally managed if you want to but you don't have any obligation to do so.

Do you know what funds are invested in?

You would do well enough to just put as much as possible in the Bright Horizon 2050 fund and forget it completely. Or if you’re curious about investing you can switch it up later.

Yeah, you're good. "Set it and forget it" with the BH 2050 Fund. It's a quality fund with a low ER (expense ratio), fees are minimal. That's what I'm doing, you don't have to touch it. A financier would say contribute as much as possible if you can afford it, 10-12% preferably.

The fund is good, simple, and as safe as investing gets. If you're young and plan on retiring young, you need to curb your contributions and put some money into something you can get to before you're 59.5.

Example being, I can retire at 55, my pension will be somewhere around 45k/yr. That may not be enough so putting into a 457, IRAs, etc. will provide another avenue to gain wealth but leave me a penalty-free avenue to another stack of cash.
