TDU is now saying the national master agreement will be renegotiated. hall must go back to the table. That the national agreement can't be signed. With so many supplements and riders being rejected, they must fix the issues, and we will revote...is this really possible?

Nope TDU needs to get a clue if they actually said this.

TDU has a pretty liberal interpretation of the IBT Constitution:

In the event such a special rider or supplement is not approved by the
affected members, and the master agreement is ratified,
the supplemental negotiating committee shall meet
with the master negotiating committee to identify the
issues which resulted in the rejection of the special rider
or supplement. The master negotiating committee shall
assist the supplemental negotiating committee when
bargaining resumes with the employer in an effort to
resolve the issues.

-----

UPDATE: TDU's view is that because members are so angry with the national contract, their respective supplements & riders will not pass - therefore Hall needs to re-negotiate the national.

So it sounds like those supplements that got rejected, they will obviously renegotiate. But will they be able to fix the healthcare issue to get members to approve for the supplemental revote? There now has to be some type of improvements made to the proposed benefits, because this is the main reason why so many supplements were rejected.

Don't see that happening!

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
Let's see how they enforce it now. Still see a target on 20 plus drivers.

Why would it put a target on guys that are that close to retirement and will get their money anyway.

I see a target on the 5-15 year drivers. The company has little invested in them and can hire someone that won't top out until the end of this contract almost.

The Secretary Treasurer from my Local just told me that "Fourteen supplements have been rejected nationwide by the members ( ours is one of them). The National contract cannot be signed until those are all fixed and voted in favor of."

So the national cant be signed until every supplement votes yes?

That is correct about the healthcare.

Us in Southern California not only rejected our Southwest Rider, but also the Western Conference. So we can now renegotiate our own Healthcare Fund, be it in the Southwest Rider or Western Conference. Therefore, we won't go into the TEAMcare Hoffa, Hall and Andy M were trying to shove down our throats.

Also got word that there's approximately 5,000 ballots from Local 89. If the National Master Passes, it will pass with under 5,000 votes.

Appoximately 57% Yes and 43% No on Master Agreement, Good Luck all Teamster Fellows.....:sad-very:

Well if this the case then all you who voted yes can look forward to higher healthcare when you retire. If you think this is good then wait till the next contract when they ask you to pay more, and by then some of you will be retired like me and many others who depend on our current membership to do the right thing for themselves and their futures.. It is a shame voter turnout is so low, the minority decides for the majority.

Higher deductibles, more for prescriptions, higher co pays, etc.. sad day for the friend/ter who has to go now for 4 yrs......after busting his tail many yrs for some snot nosed p/t sup right out of HS. Be careful for what you wish for..It will come around someday and bite you, and bite you hard. We will just have to wait and see how much more profit UPS makes this yr all the while pounding the drivers and others about numbers. The Board in Atlanta is already erecting the big Party Tent to Celebrate their Victory..High fives and bonuses for all...If you are happy with your benefits now, it must be because you don't realize how much better they were back in the early 80's. 20 yrs from now, sad to say others will be wishing for the ones you have today, and most will more than likely be P/Ters doing friend/T work. Ups always plans yrs in advance how to save a penny here and a penny there..This is a part of their plan, hang around long enough and you will see..Years ago I was proud to be a Teamster, now it is so watered down it is pathetic the way UPS jerks everyone no matter how long you have been there, no respect for Senior Drivers, Red circling porter and clerk Jobs to those in their later years who would like to move inside. All gone, now this contract waters it down even further..I Give Up, I am throwing in my towel, Hope has gone by the wayside:hang:

The people on the Vote No on UPS Contract facebook page are celebrating victory. As they believe the national is going back.

Opie,

We're celebrating that we are not getting merged into the Central States Health Fund (Teamcare). If the company wants to take our healthcare away, we want the right to build our own healthcare fund either in our rider or on the supplement.

The big southwestern locals not only defeated our rider overwhelmingly, but we were big enough to override all the smaller locals in the West and carry the entire Western Conference to a NO victory.

Or maybe UPS & Teamsters re-group, survey why employees turned it down, determine that PTers were most upset with the changes, offer them $1,000 signing bonus to offset increased costs, send out a second round of ballots, only one-quarter of the original people who voted do so again & it easily passes.

re: Current Results - (Renegotiations???)

The National cannot be signed untill ALL supplements are ratified as well. The members now control the destiny of the national. Within our respective locals, we MUST demand that our local officer go back to Hoffa/Hall and demand a change to those issues that affect us most.

We can hold this contract hostage by not agreeing to ratify the supplementals until the national master is changed!

There is still hope that the vote count after local 89 is counted, that the approval percentage may drop to near 51%.

We in the west need to get out there and talk to our members, especially to those who didnt bother to vote for whatever reason. There will be a million excuses and almost everyone will say that they voted, but we know this to be untrue.

The western conference leaders Ron H, Andy M & Randy C all had their locals reject this contract overwhelmingly.

Who will they bring in to make the next series of excuses to us?

This thing isnt over yet.

Hang in there brothers and sisters!

peace
