UPS Gives Top Brass a Raise Despite Missed Targets - Morningstar

Top executives at United Parcel Service Inc. took home higher compensation in 2016 even as the parcel carrier missed many of its performance targets.

The reason? A second pay raise and special stock awards given to senior leaders, including Chief Executive David Abney, toward the end of last year. Mr. Abney's total compensation was 21% higher than the previous year.

21% increase. Sounds like a good place to start for the contract talks.

You want your pay to be tied to UPS stock performance like Abney's and the other C-level people?

Abneys' salary increase was a 6.3% - $1.1 million salary. The C-level total compensation is largely based on stock awards. Stock price goes up, compensation goes up. Dec, 2015 stock price was $97.34 and a year later it was $119.60. Abney's stock award was $10.2M

Closest industry comparison is FedEx and Fred S's salary is $1.2M and stock awards/gains were $23M.

Still a boat load of money.
