UPS Expands Its Global Golf Sponsorship

Today, it was announced by Billy Payne, Chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament, that UPS (NYSE: UPS) will become an International Partner of the Masters Tournament, beginning at the event in 2014.

"UPS's association with the Masters represents a logical extension to our evolving international presence in golf," said Christine Owens, UPS senior vice president, communications and brand management. "For over a decade, UPS has been a part of the Masters, supporting its logistics needs. The sponsorship strengthens our alliance with Augusta National and gives us a strategic platform to demonstrate our logistics capabilities to our international audience. It also provides opportunities to offer once in a lifetime experiences for our valued customers and employees as we continue to build relationships and advance our core business."

UPS has established a strong presence in international golf since 2009, supporting tournaments in Europe and Asia, including an ongoing relationship with The Open Championship, the only major championship played outside the U.S. The global logistics provider also maintains ambassador relationships with three of the world's leading professional golfers - former World No. 1 Lee Westwood, 2010 Open Champion Louis Oosthuizen and Jeev Milkha Singh, the first Indian player to compete at the Masters.

The agreement is the latest addition to UPS's worldwide sponsorship and partnerships program that showcases its business-critical logistics capabilities in the global marketplace. Partnerships outside of golf include NASCAR, the NCAA, Scuderia Ferrari of Formula 1, and in 2012, the organization successfully managed the logistics requirements of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
