UPS "My Choice" Service Showing Huge Consumer Acceptance

    UPS (NYSE: UPS) is celebrating a subscription milestone with its new UPS My ChoiceSM service by launching a sweepstakes that could provide the winner a free vacation anywhere in the world.

    Almost 1 million consumers have signed up for UPS My Choice in the five months since its launch in early October. That significantly exceeds original predictions and demonstrates anew the attractiveness of technology when it makes the lives of consumers easier.

    With UPS My Choice, consumers can schedule their residential deliveries and avoid those "sorry we missed you" notices left on doors. There are two levels of membership, including a basic free version. Registered members receive a free phone, e-mail or text message the day before a package arrives. If the initial delivery time doesn't work, there are options to reschedule or reroute the package for a small fee. There's also the ability to go online and release packages requiring a signature. Even more control is available with an annual $40 Premium Membership.

    "It's not surprising so many people are taking advantage of UPS My Choice," says Jenny Martin, a blogger at "You can control your deliveries when it's convenient, and not having to worry about missing a package is a huge relief."

    Consumers who sign up for either level of membership through May 1, 2012, will automatically be entered in the UPS My Choice "Destination of Choice" Sweepstakes and have the opportunity to win a vacation to the destination of their dreams. Register at Consumers also can enter via mail.

    The Grand Prize winner and a companion can travel anywhere in the world. The package includes First Class airfare, lodging and ground airport transfers plus $5,000 for meals, excursions and souvenirs. The total prize value is $35,000.

    A First Prize winner can select a destination anywhere within the 50 United States. The trip includes First Class airfare, hotel accommodations and $2,500 in spending money. That total prize value is $15,000.

    Winners will be randomly selected during a drawing on or around May 14, 2012, by the independent judging organization D.L. Blair, Inc.

    If my choice has such a huge consumer acceptance why do they need to have a "sweepstakes" to get people to sign up ???

    How is "My Choice" affecting drivers and how would a 10% increase change things?

    I have only had 2 deliveries with the Electronic sig and no time frame stops.

    My Choice has had zero impact in my center thus far.

    Sounds like a moneymaker then, especially if routes are condensed enough not to criss-cross a county several times a day.

    Not really they will never make any money off it. This sweepstakes was thought up by some desk jockey in a last attempted to save his grand idea from failure.

    Some problems. Most package don't have to be signed for. The people that living in a bad DR location will never due a E sig there stuff would get stolen and UPS wouldn't be responsible. Most people can't wait around 4 hours for a package to possible show up during that time the 4 hours isn't a guaranteed time and they don't get to pick it.

    I don't see to many people spending more money for a service that isn't all the hype it's was suppose to be.

    Good points. Didn't think of it that way, but I should have. Home Delivery ran into alot of the same with their "appointment deliveries".

    UPS's goal is to have every address in the US in the My Choice database.
    It may not make much money but I never heard of that as the reason for this program.
    The real money is in operational savings and PR with customers.
    I signed up for the free service and I really like the prior day notification.
    We know to look for the package and if we are out of town, my daughter comes by and puts it away.

    I already know when my packages is going to show up it called a tracking number. I don't need more crap sent to my email address.

    There is going to be like if any operational savings. We go down the same streets and deliver to the same houses 95% of the time.

    My Choice is a gimmick.

    Luckily, UPS customers think otherwise.
    You are relying on pull technology while My Choice is push technology.
    I bet you look good in your leisure suit.
