UPS not delivering to Nantucket this summer

  • The largest courier carrier in the U.S. missed this year's window to make reservations for its trucks to be brought on to the island through local ferries
  • A spokesperson for UPS said it's working to find other transportation to ensure packages are delivered on time
  • The courier carrier's disruption might see local stores without its service during the island's busiest time period of the year, usually from May to October
  • That has left stores fearing they won't be able to fill their shelves, and well-heeled locals wondering whether goods they order won't be delivered
  • Nantucket is one of the most expensive vacation-home counties in the U.S. and some of its residents will now have to rely on rival courier carriers for delivery

UPS FORGETS to reserve slots for its trucks on summer ferries to Nantucket

Just found the article interesting. Anybody works in a center that delivers to small islands that requires ferries rides? Leave it to management to forget to reserve a spot on a ferry.

Besides I smell a current Island resident PVD run. Just meet the ferry everyday and pick up your stuff. Maybe?
Tractor trailer takes the packages to the island on the ferry, meets the package drivers and divvys them up.
It's not a small island, and their Peak is starting soon. Thousands of extra people for the Summer, and all the shops stocking up.

Is it possible that someone that forgot knows someone who owns a truck and has a reserved spot on the ferry? I assume the feeder driver also delivers?
