UPS Profit Rises 3.7% on Increased Global Shipments - Bloomberg Net income increased to $1.08 billion, or $1.02 a share, from $1.04 billion, or 96 cents, a year earlier, the Atlanta- based company said in a statement today. Sales climbed 4.7 percent to $12.2 billion. UPS has been relying on global growth while the U.S. economy has weakened. Shipments between countries rose 9.3 percent. Average daily U.S. shipments rose nearly 1 percent, the first such increase this year. The company said slowing retail sales this quarter will damp that growth.
