UPS Truck Crash Shuts Down One Lane of Interstate

One lane of Interstate 81 southbound in Luzerne County was shut down early Wednesday morning after a UPS Tandem Tractor Trailer crashed.

Emergency officials from Luzerne County said the truck was traveling northbound on the Interstate before the vehicle went off the roadway.

The crash happened in the median between the north and south bound lanes of Interstate 81 near the Avoca exit.

The condition of the driver was not immediately available.

State Police say the lane should re-open later Wednesday morning. No word on what the UPS truck was carrying.

    This version says no injuries:

Truck Crash Slowing Traffic on I-81 Near Avoca

Pittston Township, Luzerne County -- Traffic along Interstate 81 southbound is moving slowly between Scranton and Avoca.

A tractor trailer was heading north around 5:45 this morning when it rolled onto its passenger side and ended up in the median. It happened in Pittston Township right before the Avoca and airport exits.

Police say the rig was the only vehicle involved and there are no reports of any injuries. Southbound traffic will be down to one lane while crews clean up the wreck.
