UPS is testing the next generation of "smart" technology in its warehouse network, with aims of boosting productivity by 50%.
United Parcel Service Inc. (NYSE: UPS) said Thursday its Supply Chain Solutions team launched a Warehouse Execution System (WES) that adds efficiencies to order intake and fulfillment, and should also help leverage its autonomous robot capabilities.
UPS said it partnered with supply chain solutions provider Softeon to create the WES, which "allows UPS to define specific customer requirements to ensure highest priority orders are worked first without manual intervention, resulting in more than 50% productivity gains for some customers."
