The British and French are sending their soldiers into the streets of Kabul to rescue their citizens while we're saying we can't. Furthermore the U.S. had the capability to easily wipe out the Taliban for 20 years but chose to let the war continue along because defense contractors were making bank and giving nice donations to Congressional and Presidential campaign coffers to keep it going. And so was Pakistan, who has a huge Washington lobbying presence. The same Pakistan who gets much more in U.S. aid than Afghanistan does and uses some of that aid to fund the Taliban. It's Pakistan who regrouped the Taliban out of tribal area fighters in their northwest and who supply them through a valley that connects the two countries that the U.S. is well aware of and leaves that valley open. [QUOTE="vantexan, post: 4973478, member: 24302"] Trump had a deal in place to leave in May before the Taliban's "fighting season." Biden scrapped that and waited until there were tens of thousands of Taliban looking to fight. Biden made it political by wanting to leave completely by Sept. 11th. He made it impossible for the Afghan Army to have an advantage over the Taliban by pulling American air support. He made it turn into this complete debacle by pulling the troops before he had taken all Americans and Afghanis we had promised to help out of the country. Same valley that bin Laden escaped to Pakistan through. We've all been played by our government who got a lot of people killed so that they could have an excuse to enrich themselves and others with our tax dollars. Another reason Trump had to go. He drew our force strength down to 2500 and we were doing very little fighting. Primarily air support to the Afghanis. We weren't burning through the weaponry and ammunition. I suspect that's why Biden left so much American gear. Military contractors will have to replace it.
