They didn't rule on the constitutionality of the law in question. They just ruled that the states have police powers. If I'm not mistaken the plaintiff wasn't challenging the law, but the fine. My guess is that it was so obvious to people in that point of history  that states couldn't force medical treatments on anyone that no one actually challenged that aspect. The fine is along the lines of what they are doing today by coercing businesses to make their own mandates. If anyone had challenged the vaccine order back then they'd say "we aren't forcing you to take a vaccine, we're just fining you if you don't". The Jacobson decision was one of the top three worst blunders by the Supreme Court.</p></blockquote><p></p>
