i know it isn’t much but I was surprised they recognized veterans at my center and presented them with a challenge coin. I’ve only been here a few years but have they ever done something like this before?

Never saw anything like that before. In fact when my National Guard unit was mobilized, HR told me I wouldn't have a job when I came back.

2003 and yes there is a Federal law protecting soldiers from their employers and retaliation. Still can't stop them from threatening you. Only for specific actions.

Actually it is a really good deal. Do 20 years and when you turn 60 (sometimes younger) you collect a retirement check and even more, free health care for you and your spouse for the rest of both of your lives.
