There's nothing wrong with wearing flag pins or waving the flag. I agree that neither Democrats nor Republicans have a monopoly on that honor. Supporting our troops has not been an issue as far as I'm concerned. Withholding funds to continue a war that shouldn't have happened in the first place doesn't mean non-support for our troops. it doesn't mean you're anti-american, either. Matter of fact I would be willing to argue that it may make you more American. Is it anti-american to be against a "war of aggression"? Is it anti-american to be against the errosion of Constitutional Rights? Is it anti-american to disagree with the present administrations' actions? Is it anti-american to be anything other than a Republican? If the answer to these questions (in your mind) is yes, then I guess I'm anti-american. Whgile there has always been a divide between Republicans and Democrats in philosophy, I have never seen such a divide as we have now. It makes the Grand Canyon look like a crack in the sidewalk. It has gotten worse in the last few decades and continues at a maddening pace. It is to the point that the hopes of anything getting done in Washington grows dimmer by the year. Until we get someone in office that can bring both sides to the table in a true bi-partisan effort, we're doomed. There doesn't need to be complete concensus between parties, but we have to be able to reach meaningful compromise in order to move the country in a positive direction. Are either of the two candidates the answer to this impass? I don't really know. I can only hope. Whatever the outcome of this election, I'm pretty sure of one thing. It won't be anywhere close to the disaster we have now. My feelings are...that until we can get control of our government away from "corporate america"........nothing will change but the faces we see on tv. JMO
