Warning Letter over Telematics

Spend all the time, effort, and precious money that UPS is so worried about to make YOU, ME, and ALL the other people drivers to look for any and all reasons to fire them after you're hired?!?!?!

Upstate when you are sent out on a route blind how are you SUPPOSE to know the 10 mile road you are on that you cant see the end on is going to be a good road? The ONLY way you are going to know that is by experience! I completely agree with you on skipping the lunches and such but thats soon to be taken care of via DOT. Skipping lunches and such though doesnt give you any knowledge of a good or bad road.

You want a toe? I can get you a toe.
First rule on rural routes is not to drive down any roads/driveways unless you know for sure that you can safely turn around at the end.

Lol yeah right how would you ever know in the first place it was safe to turn around. If I'm walking off all my rural route stops u better cut my stop count in half and give me some mace to keep the dogs away.

Telematics may not be 100% reliable but it is pretty damn close and I do see the language changed in 2013.
Telematics is no where near 100% accurate. Each telematic measurement requires a series of things to function perfectly for the signal to be correctly generated and passed along. This must be done in a vehicle that takes a pounding for nine or so hours a day.

Ask all of your mechanics what the various error rates are for Telematics. I say all your mechanics, because some may be anti-driver, or pro-Telematics, and may not give you the whole picture.

There are design flaws, instalation flaws, faulty sensor flaws, faulty interpertation of the data by a Supervisor flaws, etc. The biggest fault of all is that there is no penality for false accusation. It's like if a policeman were exempt from a false arrest charge. He would have nothing to loose by arresting you on false evidence, flimsy evidence, trumped-up evidence, dubious evidence, etc.

With the notable exception of the 804 thread on the union forum, I wonder what percentage of moderated posts in some way involve responses to UpState?
He gets what he asks for and I think he enjoys it in a masochistic fashion.

Your correct. But I'm sure upstate is a post :censored2:. Face to face he would agree with everything you say, then talk :censored2: behind your back. He is a sycophant of the company and a dependent of our union. A joke. A walking herpe.

Sometimes nosing in is the safest way I don't care what they say. If there is a mean looking dog I'm going to nose in and get as close as I can to an acceptable dr location. I'm not hanging myself out to dry just so I don't show up on some report.

You're backing wrong. Follow their methods. It's the surest way to avoid getting fired. Back first--always. Never nose into a delivery stop. You might get in a hurry and forget to check behind the PC when you come back. A lot can happen between the time you leave the PC, and when you step back into the PC. If you forget to check, and something gets behind you, you might hit it. That is why they say back first. And if you do back into something, you better believe the first thing they will ask, is, "Did you back first?"

Nose in if you must, but finish putting the PC in the direction you will be heading out. It's for your own good.

When I get stuck where I'm going to have a back first exemption I do the following to avoid getting a hit on telematics. 1. Park truck, set e-brake, leave truck ON. 2. Scan package with truck on and put in prerecord then deliver package. 3. Get back in truck, back out, and turn around. 4. Turn truck off. 5. Bring package back in diad from prerecord and DR package. 6. Start truck and leave going forward.

If you follow these procedures you will not get a back first exemption or a recording while idling. It will increase your idling time.

I just hate it when I go up a driveway and find a locked gate and no place to turn around. I'm not going to back out and then run the package all the way back in just to avoid a back first exemption. I have better things to do with my time.

You are going to get fired sooner, rather than later. NEVER leave the keys in the ignition if you aren't in the PC, and geez, dude, NEVER leave a PC running if you aren't in the driver's seat. I don't know what kind of shortcuts you take, but if this any indication, you must have a long list.

Do NOT give management reason to terminate you. Follow their methods. Believe it or not, most of these methods are safer, and in addition, you will make more money by following them.

It seems many of you don't see the obvious pattern with management in this company. They make demands on us. Many, many times, these demands are laughable. And just as often, they are in clear violation of our contract. Does that stop them? Of course it doesn't. It is up to each and every one of us to hold their nose to the wheel. Get written up for something stupid like this guy has? BE CALM. Talk to your steward, file a grievance and if you are being instructed to do something that doesn't sound right, ask for your manager to A: put it in writing on UPS letterhead, and B: make him sign it. This normally will prevent most ignorant infractions, if only because you have establish a paper trail with his or her name on it.

And oh yeah, BE CALM.

I dont think you are right about the moderation. But I could be wrong. So many bad things get sent into outerspace, such as spam, before you ever see them, Or porn, we get them. We get to see them you dont:happy-very:.
I for one dont read alot of threads. 804 being one, we moderate when we get flags. And if anyone thinks they can trash talk on here, like they do on another board t******r.net, you are in the wrong place.
We try to keep it friendly, airy, a nice place to come. We appreciate when all who come help make it that way also.

I don't recall Upstate ever complaining or reporting a post related to him.
Others report posts often where people take swipes at Upstate.
I think you are correct that he likes it ... it should make him feel superior.
