I would recommend based on longevity economy, and cost of repairs, a Honda civic(I wouldn't drive one, but the car talk guys like em)
My first 2 years of College I didn't bring my car to school(it sat at home), and it was a good choice, most campuses are self sufficient and close
enough to convenience stores and more. My parents were more than willing to come pick me up for break, although
I often ended up taking the train half way to meet them.(and once the bus all the way to Florida.. wow Buses are definitely an experience)
Details definitely required for recommendations:
City/rural
north/south(snow/nosnow)
access to mass transit
parking accessibility, some schools do not allow freshman(or even sophomores) to have vehicles on campus...
