What Will Fred Do If Obama Wins?

Obama is looking pretty good for the job of President and that won't sit well with Fred, who wanted his pocket poodle McCain for the job. I'm guessing that Smith will make unionization a performance issue for management, meaning that they will (unfairly) be held responsible if their particular station/terminal goes union.Remember, Obama is pro-Teamster and pro Employee Free Choice Act, so he's the anti-Christ as far as Smith is concerned. That said, after November 4th we can expect a flood of anti-union rhetoric, thinly veiled threats, and a renewed emphasis on courier performance issues. After all, he's going to want to recoup the millions he wasted on McCain, and, as usual, he'll get the money out of the hourly workforce.

That was pretty tame for someone from the Old World.
I assume you are a right-wing conservative over in Europe where Obama seems like a right-wing nutcase to you cradle-to-grave Socialists with your machine gun toting gendarmery running around the plazas. :surprised:
Like Guinness though. :wink2:

No, I've got major seniority. And comparing you to Sarah is not a compliment.....she's worthless. Can you find an Emoticon with it's head up it's butt? You can use it to represent yourself.

Yep but it was on purpose. I realize the Irish are not as Socialist as the French. It was a an association thing like Obama and Ayers.

I was pretending I was TOS, passerby or D and figured I would post something really over the top and out of proportion to your post.

Hope you realized it was an attempt at farce.

Still like the Guinness.

You actually thought I took that as a compliment - GOOD GOD!
Just to let you know the inside scoop - FedEx will be cutting hours, but it's for sure they will not be laying off employees (thank god for that, at least everyone gets to keep their jobs in this terrible economy). Things will be tight - so they recommend you save, save, save. They will weather out the storm.
Now is there anything else (negative) you can say about the company?

Yes. The only reason that FedEx will cut hours instead of laying-off is to avoid paying unemployment benefits. I suspect that they will cut to the point where it's barely worth it for people to even come in, and some folks will just quit...mission accomplished. Let's say that they cut the PT people back to 10 hrs from the current 17.5 hr minimum. It simply won't be worth it for a lot of them. It will probably still be profitable for FT employees, unless they severely cut the minimum hrs from the current 35. Fred has a strategy to get rid of as many people as he can...I'm just not sure which way he'll go. Either way, they can still crow about following P-S-P, because they technically have not pink-slipped anyone.
One of these days, your husband is going to find out the hard way how this company really works. FedEx is famous for getting rid of managers on minor falsification issues or,more commonly, for failing to meet ridiculous and unattainable performance standards. He could be an excellent manager, and still "fail" because of the way the system works. Ask him if he has seen this happen to anyone else during his career, or if he's ever seen upper management intentionally set someone up to fail. You can also ask him why FedEx always gives employees the option to resign over simple termination. Even in cases of blatant theft or other major infraction, FedEx will forgo prosecution in trade for a resignation....no unemployment payment required. I know plenty of managers who know there is no such thing as job security at FedEx. Most have a back-up plan because they know they could be gone in a flash over nothing.
