I'll help you out. Our delegate nominations are on a sat morning at the monthly meeting. The delegate election is by mail in ballot. But... the election of officers nominations is on a Tues morning at 7 AM and the actual election held is by two avenues. First, you can force the members to go to the union hall and vote in person all the while knowing that many of the members drive over the road, work Saturday routes, and as was the case in the last election those in a large work place that wanted to vote in person were FORCED at the last minute to work double shifts on that weekend. Or secondly, you could mail in an application to apply to get an application so that you could get an absentee ballot. A 3+ week process. Dozens of members from work sites that wanted new leadership never got an absentee ballot and those that got them late were effectively omitted from voting. Then the attorney from Joint Council used to "conduct" the election was caught falsifying voting eligibility to exempt certain ballots from being counted. The ballots were from members that worked in the same facility that was mandated to work double shifts on that saturday and they wanted leadership change. The company (who just happens to have the largest amount of local members) didnt want the union leadership to change. Hmmm, wonder why? Do you see a pattern? Do you blame members for giving up? Will you blame honest bargaining unit workers for losing faith? Corruption abounds and in time that may slowly take over the minds of the next generation toward unionization. Let's call a spade a spade. The only thing that makes this union viable any more is corporate greed. The games played are sickening.
