When will UPS say you make too much an hour and change the hourly rate format or rate?

If they're taking an hour out for lunch everyday than your local is an absolute embarrassment.

Per Federal DOT rules, you HAVE to take a 30 minute period for meal by the 8 HR mark. The hour these guys take must be in their local rider. Here, we only have to take 30 minutes.

That is for full-time workers, BTW. Also here, our part-timers get a 10 minute break, and a 30 minute meal if the work more than 6 hours, I believe. It's ridiculous that some areas get no break.

My guess is the areas that don't give guys a 10 minute break are some states in the bass-ackwards South

That's what the contract says;

So you're saying that what the contract specifies is not a requirement?

however, the only requirement is that we take at least a 30 minute break before the 8th hour.

Not a requirement for you. You are exempt from the 30 minute break under the DOT short haul exemption. You never come close to working 12 hours.

Not for package drivers. They fall under the DOT short haul exemption. Not required to take a 30 minute break before 8 hours on duty.

The only caveat is that to qualify for the short haul exemption, a driver has to be released from work within 12 consecutive hours. So, if you work over 12 hours, not uncommon this time of year, you are required to take a 30 minute rest period before the 8th hour of on duty time.

We have to show "some" lunch. That is all.
