New Video of American Gunning Down African Elephant Prompts PETA Call to UPS: ‘Stop Shipping Body Parts!’ – Peta

Following the release of damning new video footage of a Los Angeles–area man gunning down a young elephant in South Africa, PETA is calling on the United Parcel Service (UPS) to stop transporting wildlife trophies, as more than 40 airlines have done since 2015.

The video footage shows the elephant strolling out of the bush on land connected to Kruger National Park, where no hunting is allowed, and Aaron Raby shooting him in the head. The elephant falls to his knees and continues to suffer as Raby—who paid $30,000 for the pleasure of killing him—gets multiple instructions from his guides on aiming better and then, without any sense of urgency, shoots four more times, causing the young animal to rumble in distress. It’s not known how many more shots, if any, were taken or how long the elephant suffered before he died—so PETA has filed a request for an investigation of alleged hunting permit violations. Raby later paid nearly $20,000 to have the elephant’s body parts preserved for shipment to the U.S.

UPS Readies Freezer Farms to Ship Virus Vaccine — If We Get One – MSN

United Parcel Service Inc. is building two giant freezer farms capable of super-cooling millions of vials of a Covid-19 vaccine, preparing for the day when it will need to deliver the medicine at high speed across the globe.

The facilities, under construction in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Netherlands, near UPS air hubs, will house a total of 600 deep-freezers that can each hold 48,000 vials of vaccine at temperatures as low as -80 Celsius (-112 Fahrenheit). That’s on par with some of the coldest temperatures in Antarctica.

Distributing a Covid-19 vaccine — if one is approved for use — will be the second huge logistical challenge spawned by the pandemic for delivery giants UPS and FedEx Corp., which earlier this year mobilized to airlift thousands of tons of protective gear across the world for health-care workers. This time the job is moving fragile vials of medicine under exacting conditions for the world’s best shot to stamp out the coronavirus and restore economies to normal.

A very special delivery: UPS driver brings companionship, kindness to Buckhannon native battling ALS – My Buckhannon

Each day, Buckhannon native-turned-Morgantown resident Seth Poling looks forward to the familiar sight of a large brown truck with yellow lettering pulling up in front of his home.

And whether the UPS driver is delivering a package to Seth Poling’s home or not, he knows his friend, UPS delivery driver Ben McGill, will stop by to say hello and check to make sure he is doing well and see if he needs anything.

Seth and Ben met while both were in middle school and attended a summertime football camp for quarterbacks in Braxton County. Years later, they reconnected when they played football at Fairmont State University. And after Seth married his wife, Erika, and moved to the Morgantown neighborhood, Brookhaven, in 2016, the couple discovered that Ben was their UPS driver. They reconnected again, and Ben would stop by for an occasional visit.
