A woman is being charged with careless driving after Florida Highway Patrol said she crashed into the back of a parked UPS truck on Thursday.
FHP troopers said Lauren Alyssa D Alvia was driving her Dodge Journey westbound on Spring Hill Drive approaching the intersection of Noah Avenue. The UPS truck was parked facing west in front of a private driveway. Officers said the UPS truck had its emergency flashing lights on and the driver was delivering a package at the residence.
The fatality happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
A 55-year-old man from New Lenox died Tuesday evening in Bolingbrook after authorities say he was caught between two trucks and one of the trucks began rolling. On Wednesday morning, the Bolingbrook Police Department announced that the victim was identified as Thomas Mulka, a resident of New Lenox. The incident happened in the 100 block of East Crossroads Parkway, which was the location of the Vistar business. The fatality involved a UPS truck photos from the scene show.
Congressman Tom Reed traded in his suit for a delivery uniform Tuesday morning as he spent a couple of hours among the ranks of UPS drivers.
Congressman Reed was invited to join UPS for the morning as the company celebrates Founders Day and 111 years of service to the community. He joined the delivery crew for a morning meeting before heading out on the route with one of the drivers. He helped make deliveries and pickups in downtown Corning on Market Street and in surrounding neighborhoods. The Congressman praised UPS for giving back to employees after the new tax cut Bill.
